A. If Something isn’t Working or You Have Concerns About the Site

A.1 Common Login Problems

A.1.1 Is MyGroceryDeals.com compatible with my computer and browser

Mygrocerydeals.com is built to work best in Internet Explorer in a Windows environment. You must “allow cookies” and have JavaScript enabled for our site to work (see below). Our site is also compatible with:

  • Internet Explorer 7 - 9 - Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7
  • Google Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Safari

A.1.2 Why am I getting a login error as a member?

As an existing member, click on the “Sign In” button in the upper right hand side of the page and use the email and password fields. That will allow you to login with your registered email address. Enter your password you originally created. If you forgot your password, please click on the “Forgot Your Password” link and we will send it to your email address. The two most common login errors are either misspelled credentials (email addresses and passwords either initially as part of registration or upon re-entry) or forgotten passwords altogether. Please check your spelling carefully. If for some reason you still can’t login, contact us and we’ll do our best to help you.

A.1.3 When I login to the site, the password field is automatically filled in by my browser, then I get a login error message, what can I do?

Some browsers will automatically save passwords and you can’t see them to verify because all the characters are masked with bullet points (small dark circles). Your browser might be filling out the field for our site with another site’s password or a misspelled password. Try clearing the password field and re-typing your password for MyGroceryDeals.com.

A.1.4 I just joined and can’t log in even using the first part of my email address as the password, what is happening?

Occasionally, we have had members mistype their email address, like member@yaho.com instead of member@yahoo.com. Look for your membership confirmation email or click “Forgot My Password” and verify it there. If you can’t find the email (check the junk mail folder too), then try clicking on “New Member Registration” and registering again. If you mistyped your email address the first time, the system will just think you are a new member and allow you to register again.

A.2 Links/Navigating the Site

A.2.1 When I click on some links, nothing seems to happen?

If you click a link and nothing happens, click again while holding the control key down. If this link is supposed to open in a pop-up window, it’s possible that the pop-up is being blocked by pop-up blocking software. Holding down the Control key while clicking will temporarily disable pop-up blockers.

If you happened to double click on the link, it’s possible that the pop-up opened behind the main window. Please check your task bar at the bottom of your screen to see if you can find the window.

A.3.1 Why do I need software to print the coupons?

A.3.2 My retailer won’t accept on-line coupons, what can I do?

Some retailers do this because they are concerned about potential coupon fraud (i.e. non-legitimate coupons). You can also read about why they say no and what you can do here.

A.3.3 My Browse Coupons printing software will not load, what could be the problem?

There are a couple of reasons that you can check for right off the mark:

  • If you are on a computer at work, it’s possible that you cannot load software on the computer yourself. You can check with your IT staff or Help Desk.
  • You may be running anti-virus protection that may be blocking the installation of the Coupon Gallery Software

A.3.4 I can’t print Coupons, what could be happening?

The Coupon Printer is compatible with most systems, but there are instances when it may not work even if the system is compatible. If you are viewing the Coupons through an AOL browser for instance, try it using Internet Explorer and see if you still have the problem. We have seen this work even though compatibility should not be an issue.

A.4 Printing/Emailing your Shopping List

A.4.1 I can't print “My Shopping List”, what could be happening?

If you have checked all the obvious things like if your printer is on, connected to your computer and if it hasn’t run out of paper, then perhaps the print preview box or printer selection box from our site has fallen in behind the main window and is still waiting to be clicked. Try minimizing the main browser window to see if you can find the printer dialogue box.

A.5 Emailing, SPAM and My Email Address

A.5.1 What are you going to do with my email address?

We decided to use email addresses as the login ID/username so it is easy for our members to remember. We recognize that we all have way too many passwords and USER IDs. Knowing that your email address is going to be unique, we thought it best to piggyback an existing identifier for you, so that you have less information (password only) to remember when you got to our site.

We never use your email address to send you anything you didn’t request except for your initial Membership Confirmation Email and any technical bulletins that affects our site’s ability to serve you properly. You may want to read about the permission-based email practices that we use too.

A.6 ZIP/Postal Codes

A.6.1 Why do you need my ZIP Code?

We ask for your standard 5-digit ZIP Code so that we can narrow down a list of local stores for you. We use a ZIP Code database that we have secured from United States Postal Service, however, there are times when it will not be perfectly up to date. If you have received a message stating that your ZIP Code is not found or if your ZIP Code is not “mapped” to the correct City and State, please contact us.

A.6.2 If I’m in Canada and shop in the Northern U.S., how do I use MyGroceryDeals.com

The ZIP Code in your member profile controls the store list you have access to and where the “deals” that you will see are located. Temporarily relocating, vacationing or shopping somewhere else other than where you live are all examples of why you may want to use a ZIP Code other than your main residence.

As a MEMBER you can change your 5-digit ZIP Code in your profile. As a VISITOR you can input your ZIP Code on the first page you see. Of course, as a visitor, you are welcome to search for deals but you will need to sign-up as a member to use features on the site including customizing your store list or saving your searches. Why not sign-up now to get full use of the site? It’s FREE!

A.6.3 If I am planning a vacation and want to see what grocery specials they have where I am visiting, how do I do that?

The ZIP Code in your profile controls the store list you have access to and where the “deals” that you will see are located. Temporarily relocating, vacationing or shopping somewhere else other than where you live are all examples of why you may want to use a ZIP Code other than your main residence. Canadians or Mexicans doing cross-border shopping should use a valid 5-digit US ZIP Code to retrieve the correct store/deal list information.

You can look up the 5-digit ZIP Code for your shopping location by using the ZIP Code locator at www.usps.com.

A.6.4 What if I moved and need to change my ZIP Code in my profile?

Simply visit My Account Settings and locate the box that contains your ZIP Code, delete what is there and enter the new one, then just press tab or enter on your keyboard for it to accept what you entered and confirm the city and state for that 5-digit ZIP Code.

A.7 Why is a store showing zero (0) specials?

The sales expire at midnight on the date showing on the product record (deal). The day after, it will show (0) specials. It will display (0) specials until all of our flyer deals for that store are ready for viewing. Once our staff finish updating the deals, they have to be checked before we can release them on the site. This is usually by 5pm on the day that the sale starts.

Sometimes the retailers are a little behind in getting us the sale information too. When that happens, it delays the process for us to get it onto our site and means that it might not be ready for 5pm, so the best bet is to check back the next day.

If you see that the store is showing zero (0) specials for more than two days, contact us as there could be something else that is the cause.

A.8 How do I use the Coupon-Deal matching Feature?

Log-in as you normally would and you will see a section on the left navigation called "Show Me". Clicking the radio button called "Deals with Coupons" will show you all the deals with matching coupons in your area in one easy to read summary. Please note that this list is constantly changing as deals and coupons are updated on a 24/7 basis. You can add any of these deals and/or coupons to your shopping list by clicking the marked buttons on the product records.

As you hunt for deals in your normal way, either by searching by store, or by product category, you will also see a special “Coupon” as additional detail for the deal when a matching coupon is found. Simply click on “Add Coupon”, and this will add this to your shopping list. Don’t forget to add the deal to your list too by clicking the normal “Add to List” button. We’ve even matched up coupons to products that aren’t on sale so you can still save on those non-deal purchases too!

If you look at your completed Shopping List you will see that both your deals and coupons are now appearing on the list. The coupons on your shopping list are there as a reference for you. Because of our coupon provider requirements, we are unable to print the coupons automatically from our shopping list. To print your coupons, click on the link next to the corresponding coupon reference. This will take you to the coupon providers page where you can print your coupons.

A.10 How do I use the Product Alert Feature?

Log-in as you normally would and go to My Account Settings. There will be a section under My Notifications called PRODUCT ALERT SETUP.

To add a Product Alert, choose a Category first, then choose a Brand second, then choose a Description third, and finally choose the Store and click on the Add Alert button. You may add up to 5 Product Alerts.

Once you have added your Product Alerts you will receive an email for each alert whenever a product(s) for the alerts go on special.

B. Changing Account Settings

B.1 How do I change my top preferred store?

To add, delete or change your top preferred store, just click on the “Manage Stores” on the left navigation just below your list of stores. Your top preferred store is indicated in a drop down menu. To change it, just choose another store by clicking on the downward arrow to expand the list.

As for your secondary store choices, see Question B.2 (below).

B.2 How do I delete account?

To remove your account/profile, sign in and immediately go to My Account Settings. In the My Profile section you will see a link “Delete My Profile / Cancel Membership”, this will immediately log you out and delete all your account information. You will no longer be able to login.

B.3 Passwords

B.3.1 How do I change my Password?

To change your password, click My Account Settings. Directly below your email address you will see two boxes filled with small dark circles. They indicate your password. To change the password, just backspace or delete over what is there and type in your new one. Be sure to type the new one into both boxes.

You will get an email from our Member Services with Confirmation of your new password.

The next time you login be sure to use the new password.

B.3.2 What do I do if I have forgotten my password?

If you have forgotten your password, click on the link in the Member Login area on the right-hand side of the main page at www.MyGroceryDeals.com titled “Forgot Your Password?” A new window will open requesting your email address that you used to register. Your password will be emailed to you at that email address very shortly.

B.4.1 How do I ensure that I do not get any email from MyGroceryDeals.com?

We uphold the most rigorous permission practices and will not email you unless you have indicated permission through the Communication preferences in your profile (if you are a member) or on our non-member email mailing list. We do not sell, rent or share in any way our email lists. If you receive an email with a @MyGroceryDeals.com suffix and it looks suspicious, please contact us. No one likes SPAM and we will do our best to protect the integrity of our site.

B.4.3 How do I sign up to get email updates or email services like Flyer Alert?

When you sign up as a member, you are preset to receive email updates from us. That way you’ll be sure to receive any important announcements about the site. Whether you are looking to stop receiving email entirely or, change or add types of email (subscribe or unsubscribe) that you get from us, visit My Account Settings and look for My Notifications. Click on the NO button to unsubscribe to any (or all) of the email topics and YES to subscribe. In order to save your changes, look for the SUBMIT button at the bottom on the profile page.

C. Where We Serve and our Store List

C.1 ZIP/Postal Codes

C.1.1 Why doesn’t my ZIP/Postal Code work?

We currently serve all areas within the 50 states of the United States. We are working on adding Canada over the next year or so. Expansion to other countries is yet to be determined.

We rely on 5-digit U.S. ZIP Codes to determine your city/county, state and your local store list. For non-residents wishing to shop in the U.S., please feel free to enter a 5-digit U.S.ZIP Code where you plan to shop to see the local deals for that area. 5-digit ZIP Codes can be sourced from the United States Postal Service at www.usps.com.

If we seem to be missing a ZIP Code or store, please email us. We’ll do our best to get you the information you need.

C.1.2 Why are you missing my ZIP Code?

Our database is from the United States Postal Service and updated annually. However, as ZIP Codes are added regularly, we could be missing the odd one. If you would like a location and ZIP Code added, please contact us

C.2.1 What areas of the U.S. do you serve?

We currently serve all areas within the 50 states of the United States.

C.2.2 What stores do you include?

Ultimately, your ZIP Code determines your available store list. We include stores for a radius of about 50 miles. You may not travel that far to shop, but you can customize (add or delete stores) your own store list as often as you like. Simply modify your store list choices by clicking on the “Manage Stores” button on the left navigation just below your list of stores.

You will find included in our site a wide variety of stores from major chains to smaller owner-run boutique stores. We do not include stores that do not have advertised sales and we can only include stores for which we have an established a regular stream of sale information. There are still many stores for which we have to establish this link. At any time, you can help by talking to the local store owner or manager about us and letting them know that you would like to see their store on MyGroceryDeals.com. You can also try contacting the store’s customer service department via phone or email to request their participation.

C.2.3 Do you include Canadian stores and data?

We currently serve all areas within the 50 states of the United States only. We are working on adding Canada over the next year or so. Expansion to other countries is yet to be determined.

C.2.4 Why are you missing my store?

After conducting our extensive research, it was determined that the stores that are included are the most popular in their areas (determined by ZIP Code). There are also many stores for which we are still in the midst of establishing a “regular stream” of sale and flyer information.

We continue to add stores everyday, and some store’s sale information is easier to get than others. You can even help by suggesting to the store manager or owner that they contact us, if they can supply their sale information to us, we would be glad to include them free of charge. If there is a store that you feel is missing, please contact us and we’ll do our best to add them.

C.3 Prices and Deals

C.3.1 How often are the store prices & deals updated?

We monitor the sales daily and update our site “24/7” as the stores provide the information to us. Once we have completed entering all the sales and prices, it is all checked before we release it for you to see.

Wednesdays and Sundays are the biggest “flyer turnover days”, so it can take us until 5pm the day we get the stores sale information to get it all in. Some days will go faster and some days we run into hiccups that cause it to go a bit later. Sometimes we don’t even get the stores sale information until the next day or the next day after that. We enter and post it as soon as we get it.

C.3.2 How is the regular price calculated?

When the specific retailer’s regular price is not available, a national average of several different chains is used. We use the most reliable data sources available, however, they are not perfect. If there is a price that you see that you feel needs adjusting, please contact us (please link to contact us page).

C.3.3 Why is the price shown on MyGroceryDeals.com different than the store’s?

The sale prices that we display are advertised specials. From time to time, stores may independently choose to lower or raise prices and may differ from the advertised specials. Some stores within the same community may alter their individual pricing (both regular and sale prices) due to competitive conditions. They may also feature unadvertised in-store specials that are specific to that store. These unadvertised specials are not featured on our site unless the stores advise us directly ahead of time. We do our best to report the most accurate pricing we can for you.
